PRIVACY
POLICY
1. Who we are
Elevate Electronics Ltd, trading as C.E. Electronics ("Elevate Electronics", "we", "us"), is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of our business. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 02730824. Our address is Bridge House, Station Approach, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire HP16 9AZ, United Kingdom.
Elevate Electronics is the parent company of C.E. Electronics Inc. (Bryan, Ohio, USA) and is backed by Peters Research Ltd. Where those companies process personal data on our behalf or jointly with us, this policy explains how.
This policy applies to visitors to this website, people who contact us, and the representatives of our customers, suppliers and partners. It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. Data we collect
Information you give us
- Enquiries: name, company, email address, telephone number, enquiry type and the content of your message, including any drawings, photographs or specifications you send.
- Business relationships: contact details, job title, order and delivery information, invoicing and payment details, correspondence and technical-support records.
- Events and marketing: details you provide when subscribing to updates or meeting us at exhibitions.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: IP address, browser type and version, pages requested, referring page, date and time. Used for security and to keep the site running.
- Cookies and analytics: see section 8. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
We do not knowingly collect special-category data (such as health or biometric data) or data about children. Please do not send it to us.
3. How and why we use it
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to enquiries, quotations and technical-support requests | Legitimate interests (running our business), or steps prior to entering a contract |
| Fulfilling orders, delivering products, invoicing and after-sales support | Performance of a contract; legal obligation (accounting records) |
| Maintaining product documentation and service history for installations | Legitimate interests (supporting products through their service life) |
| Sending product updates and industry news to business contacts | Legitimate interests (B2B marketing). You can opt out at any time |
| Website security, fraud prevention and troubleshooting | Legitimate interests |
| Complying with legal, regulatory, tax and export-control obligations | Legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests we have balanced those interests against your rights. We do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Who we share it with
- Group companies: C.E. Electronics Inc. (USA) for manufacture, order fulfilment and North-American support, and Peters Research Ltd (UK) where an enquiry concerns traffic analysis, simulation or dispatching.
- Service providers: website hosting, email, form-handling, cloud storage, CRM and accounting providers, and couriers. They act on our instructions under written contracts.
- Professional advisers: accountants, auditors, insurers and lawyers where necessary.
- Authorities: regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where required by law.
- Business transfers: a buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal data.
5. International transfers
Because manufacturing and part of our support is based in the United States, some personal data (typically contact details and order information) is transferred to C.E. Electronics Inc. and to US-based service providers. Where a transfer leaves the UK we rely on the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or on adequacy regulations where they apply (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified recipients). You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguard.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to business: up to 24 months from last contact.
- Customer and supplier records, orders and correspondence: for the duration of the relationship and 7 years afterwards, to meet accounting and legal requirements.
- Installation and technical-support records: for the service life of the product, because customers ask us to match and replace units decades after supply.
- Server logs: up to 12 months.
- Marketing contacts: until you opt out or we learn the details are no longer current.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, backups and staff confidentiality obligations. No transmission over the internet is entirely secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately using the details below.
8. Cookies
This website uses only cookies and local storage that are strictly necessary for it to function, such as remembering that you have dismissed a notice. If we add analytics in future we will ask for your consent first and update this section. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will continue to work.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed;
- have your data erased where there is no good reason for us to keep it;
- restrict or object to processing, including objecting at any time to direct marketing;
- receive the data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.
To exercise any of these rights, email or write to us using the details in section 11. We will respond within one month and will not charge a fee unless a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. We may need to verify your identity first.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
